Florida Native Dies At Age 77

Alice Imojean Carmichael Persinger, age 77, of 6150 Rich Patch Road, Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at her residence.

She was born September 16, 1935 in Dunedin, Florida, to the late William Florence Carmichael and Annie Laurene Baldwin Carmichael.

She was a 1953 graduate of Clearwater High School, and loved attending her high school reunions.

She was a radiology technician for a number of years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dunedin, FL and the Pioneer Club of Dunedin.

She was a wife, mother, homemaker, and loved to cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Mildred Carmichael King.

She is survived by her husband, Everette L. Persinger, Jr. of Rich Patch, Covington; two daughters, Debbie Shuart and husband, Harold of Colorado Springs, CO, and Annie Ewoldt and husband, Todd of Knoxville, TN; a sister-in-law, Reba Cartwright of Covington; four grandchildren, Sarah Brittingham, Emily Hoban, Nathan Shuart and Max Ewoldt; a great grandson, Ethan Wilson; and a number of nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Chris King and Stacy King.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Bill Gilliland and Lee Dotson officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be Todd Ewoldt, Max Ewoldt, Harold Shuart, Nathan Shuart, Donnie Arrington, and E. J. Harlow.

The family received friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
