Obituary for Augusta Buckland Dulaney Augusta Buckland Dulaney
Longtime Covington Resident Was Active In Her Community

Mrs. Augusta Buckland Dulaney, age 95, of 1709 Midland Trail, Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Brian Center-Alleghany, Low Moor.

She was the widow of the late Lewis Dulaney, who preceded her in death on July 28, 1962.

She was born December 5, 1917 in Belspring, Pulaski County, a daughter of the late Luther Buckland and Maggie Anderson Buckland.

She and Lewis moved to the Covington area in 1936. Mrs. Dulaney was a member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church, the Theta Owens Sunday School Class, and was a life member of the United Methodist Women of the church.

She retired from the J.C. Penney Company any at the age of seventy-seven after twenty-five years of service.

A longtime supporter of the Boy Scouts, she maintained the Scouting Department at J.C. Penney, as well as her other responsibilities.

She was honored to receive the District Award of Merit from the Boy Scouts of America following her retirement. Mrs. Dulaney had a very useful and productive life, involved in community, church, home and family. She loved her scouts and all children.

Mrs. Dulaney is survived by two sons, David S. Dulaney of Hilton Head, SC and Donald Lewis Dulaney and wife, Darlene of Covington; two granddaughters, Danielle Leigh Dulaney and Dawn Marie Dulaney of Covington, who loved their "MeeMee" very much; two sister-in-laws, Virginia Buckland and Evelyn Buckland; and a number of devoted nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dulaney was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Buckland and four brothers, Robert Buckland, Kelly Buckland, Elwood Buckland and Carl Buckland.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry Throckmorton officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were scouts, David Sites, Eric Sites, Jim Oliver, Jacob Downer, Tim Walton, Brandon Walton, Craig Walton, and Derek Walton.

The family received friends Friday evening at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church and at other times at the residence, 1709 Midland Trail, Covington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Augusta's name to Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church, 425 W. Main Street, Covington, VA 24426 or to the Boy Scouts of America, 801 Hopeman Parkway, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
