Former Restaurant Owner, Auto Salesman Dies At Age 82

Charles Lorenzo (Buddy) Lockard, age 82, formerly of 2700 Winterberry Ave., Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Carrington Place, Daleville.

He was born March 29, 1931 in Covington, Virginia, a son of the late Walter Scott and Susanna Bookman Lockard.

He was retired co-owner of Buddy and Sonny's Drive-In restaurant, later working for Covington Motor Company as a salesman.

He was member of Mallow Presbyterian Church, a member of Covington Masonic Lodge # 171 AF & AM, and Covington Royal Arch Chapter #18.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Walter Scott "Sonny" Lockard and sisters, Mary Elizabeth Folks, Wanda Ruth Hensley, and Catherine Mackey.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Ann Wright Lockard of Carrington Place; four daughters, Cynthia Lou Stephenson and husband, Andrew of McLean, Teresa Lynn Lockard and husband, Jim Loyd of Alpharetta, GA, Dinah Marie Frey and husband, Hans of Alpharetta, GA, Anne Carol Beckner Drumheller of Lynchburg; a son, Charles Wesley "Chuck" Lockard and wife, Susan of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Kayla Frey, Meghann Stephenson, Chloe Lockard, Brandon Beckner; special friend of the family Mary Drumheller and husband, Harold of Hopwell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Chuck Lockard officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at Alleghany Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to The Youth Program of Mallow Presbyterian Church, 2004 Mallow Road, Covington, VA 24426.
