Obituary for David Thomas Ervin David Thomas Ervin
Retired Truck Driver Was Vietnam War Veteran

David Thomas Ervin, 66, of 313 Roxbury St., Clifton Forge, Virginia, died July 6, 2013 at the Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital.

He was born January 9, 1947 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Boyd A. and Evelyn Anderson Ervin.

Mr. Ervin served in the Vietnam War with the United States Army.

He was retired as a truck driver with Star Trucking Inc.

He was also a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Ervin and two brothers, Earl Ervin and Donald Ervin.

Surviving are a daughter, Vickie Redman and husband, Leonard of Clifton Forge; two sons, Dallas Ervin of Clifton Forge and Jerry Ashby of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Destiny Redman and Madison Redman, both of Clifton Forge; one sister, Nancy Thomas, and one brother, Curtis Ervin, both of Madison Heights. Special friends, Max Humphreys and wife, Polly and Shirley Richmond and husband, Donnie, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 10, 2013 in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Elder James Arritt officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
