Obituary for Edward Alexandar (Pupan) Hayes Edward Alexandar (Pupan) Hayes
Former Low Moor Resident Was Top Automobile Salesman, Athlete

Edward Alexandar (Pupan) Hayes, age 65, of 634 East 36th Street Baltimore, Maryland, formerly of Low Moor, Virginia, died Tuesday July 23, 2013 at the Joseph Richey Hospice House in Baltimore.

He was born December 2, 1947 in Gala, Va., a son of the late Alexandar and Anna Belle Brown Hayes.

He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Low Moor, and a salesman for the Ford Motor Company, where he obtained the honor of being the top salesman for several years.

He loved to play football and baseball. He even played semi-professional baseball in the Baltimore area on the "Johnnie's Used Car Lot" team, the same team where Reggie Jackson got his start.

He is survived by his fiance, Gloria Slade, of Baltimore; a daughter; Leslie Hayes, of Baltimore; stepdaughter, Kia Slade, of Baltimore; a sister, Sherriel Lewis and husband, William, of Clifton Forge; three brothers: Theodore "Ted" Hayes of Roanoke, Jerry Hayes of Baltimore, Carl Hayes and wife, Elsie of California; three goddaughter: Ashante Boone, of Baltimore, Alicia Ringgold Williams of Fallston, Maryland, Zoe Parker of Baltimore; two aunts, Hester Alston and husband, Harry, of Clifton Forge, and Blanche Jones, and husband Bill, of Montgomery, WV; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with the Reverend Matthew T. Barnette officiating. Interment followed in Mountain View Cemetery in Clifton Forge. Active Pallbearers were Norman L. Thomas, Reggie Dean, Don Allen, Charles Moore Sr, A.C. Cooper, and Irving Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Lee Russell, Gregory Key, John Blakey. The family received friends Friday at Nicely Funeral Home.
