Christie Lynn Newcomb Boyd, age 50, of 504 Railroad Ave, Iron Gate, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Friday August 2, 2013.

She was born October 19, 1962 in Clifton Forge, VA, a daughter of the late Frank Stuart and Drotha Broughman Newcomb.

She was a member of the Iron Gate Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Alvis Boyd.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, James Leroy Boyd, Sr; a son, James (Jamie) Leroy Boyd, Jr. and companion, Bobbie Jo Morrison; a daughter; Alexis (Lexi) Grace Boyd; a grandson, James Leroy (Lee) Boyd III; a brother, Mark S. Newcomb; a sister, Teresa Newcomb Persinger and husband Thomas; and two nephews, Tom and Danny Persinger, all of Iron Gate; as well as a number of other nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes her body had been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Iron Gate Baptist Church with the Reverend Hunter Hale officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at Iron Gate Baptist Church from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in her memory to the Building Fund of Iron Gate Baptist Church, 702 Market Street, Iron Gate, VA 24448.
