Obituary for George McKinley Bane George McKinley Bane
Minnie Jane Robinson Smith, 88, of 113 Stacks Lane, Clifton Forge died Friday, August 23, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Alleghany County, Virginia on July 29, 1925, a daughter of the late Sam Edd and Rathia Conner Robinson. She was a retired machine operator at the former Halmode of Covington, and was a member of the Longdale United Methodist Church. She loved caring for her family, cooking and taking pictures. Minnie had a wonderful sense of humor and even at difficult times could bring a roar of laughter or grin to those around her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and a loyal and faithful friend. Minnie and her unique personality will be surely missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malvin Smith and by brothers, Sammy Robinson, Jr. , Richard Robinson and Givens Robinson. She is survived by a daughter, Gayle Bush and her husband Randy of Mechanicsville, Virginia; a son, Tommy Smith of Cape Canaveral, Florida; 3 grandchildren, Jeffrey Bush and wife Andrea, April Bush, and Matthew Smith; 2 great grandchildren, Carter and Natalie Bush; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece as well as caregiver, Karen Porter of Clifton Forge. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 12 Noon from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Advent Christian Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 :00 A.M. until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Ricky Robinson, Gary Robinson, Daniel Robinson, Wayne Broughman, Kaleb Williamson, Mark Robinson, Calvin Conner, and Darrell Nicely. Derrick Robinson will be an honorary pallbearer.
