Obituary for Clarence Hunter Campbell Clarence Hunter Campbell
Rockbridge County Native Was World War II Merchant Marines Veteran, Retired General Contractor

Clarence Hunter Campbell, age 87, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday, August 26, 2013 at The Golden Living Center, Clifton Forge.

He was born December 5, 1925 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, to the late Renard and Hattie Bennington Campbell.

He served in the Merchant Marines and the United States Coast Guard during World War II, and was a retired general contractor and lifetime member of the Clifton Forge Moose Lodge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Kibler Campbell, and a number of brothers and sisters.

He is survived by a daughter, Deborah C. Rogers and husband, Allen of Clifton Forge; two sons, Larry H. Campbell and wife, Kay of Mesa, AZ and Christopher S. Campbell and wife, Janet Rigoni Campbell of Winchester; two sisters, Elsie Broughman of Lexington and Norma Ann Boswell of Robbins, NC; three grandchildren, Derek Rogers, Kelly R. Tabor and husband, Christian, and David H. Campbell; two great grandchildren, Ethan Tabor and Meghan Tabor; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Scott Reese officiating. Interment will follow. There will be no visitation.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is in charge of arrangements.
