Collierstown Presbyterian Church Member Was Effinger Fire Department Volunteer

Betty Louise Monroe Clark, 74, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at her home.

She was born November 18, 1938, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Walter C. Monroe and Louise Tisdale Monroe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Monroe; and one grandson, Philip Conner.

Grandma Betty was a member of the Collierstown Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department, and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, knitting, canning food, and conversation with good friends. She also loved her water garden, gardening, and cooking.

Betty married John Albert Clark on May 14, 1960.

In addition to her husband, surviving are her two daughters, Virginia Louise Clark Conner and Holly Ann Clark Leech and husband, Larry; seven grandchildren, Amanda, John, Matthew, Jason and wife, Brandy, Hank, Blake, and Jade; and four great-granddaughters, Danielle, Jaycee, Harlii, and Jorgia.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Skip Hastings officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450, or to the Effinger Fire Department, 2824 Collierstown Road, Lexington, VA 24450.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
