Clifton Forge Native Dies In Maryland At Age 70

Mr. Thurman (Manboy) Morgan, Jr., age 70, of Upper Marlboro, MD, died Monday morning, October 7, 2013 at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC.

Manboy was born September 15, 1943 in Clifton Forge, the son of the late Thurmond Morgan, Sr. and Doris Christine Hunter Morgan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Geanette Morgan.

Despite having Cerebral Palsey, he attended Watson Elementary School and was later homeschooled by Mamie B. Woodfolk from the Pine Street Baptist Church.

Manboy was a true people person and enjoyed carrying on a conversation with everyone that he met. He liked reading, watching football and tennis and working with his hands. Manboy was of the Baptist faith. He loved music especially anything by Mahalia Jackson and was always "going to buy his red truck or red car." Manboy also loved to travel.

Surviving are his siblings, Doris Franklin of Chesapeake, VA, Peggy Scott of Upper Marlboro, MD, Gloria Tinsley of Maryland, Teresa Cashwell of Covington, VA, Charlene Barber of Central Islip, NY; Wendell Morgan and wife, Brenda of Chesapeake, VA, Locksie Pair and husband, John of Norfolk, VA and Irving Morgan and wife, Gloria of Hyattsville, MD; and several special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 12, 2013, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Thomas H. Harper officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.
