Obituary for Charles Gordon (Chuck) Vass Charles Gordon (Chuck) Vass
Retired As Homestead's Food And Beverage Purchasing Manager

Mr. Charles Gordon (Chuck) Vass, age 59, of Covington, Virginia, went to be with the Lord after a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.

He was the husband of Valerie Field-Vass.

Mr. Vass was born May 4, 1954 in Ronceverte, WV, the son of the late Forrest Edward Vass, Sr. and Faye Holiday Vass.

He was employed as the Food and Beverage Purchasing Manager for the Homestead, retiring with twenty years of service.

Chuck attended Good News Fellowship Church.

He enjoyed listening to music especially the Beatles and cooking. Chuck enjoyed being outdoors and participating in outdoor activities including fishing, gardening and growing flowers. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Vass is survived by three sons, Charlie A. Vass, Nicholas Field and fiance, McKayla and Joshua Greenblatt; one brother, Forrest E. Vass, Jr. and wife, Patty of Ronceverte; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staffs of both Mountain Regional Hospice and the University of Virginia Hospital for their kindness, support and loving care during ChuckÕs illness. A funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Noel officiating. Interment followed in Lebanon Cemetery in Monroe County, WV.

Pallbearers were Eddie Vass, Nick Field, Josh Greenblatt and Forrest Vass.

The family received friends on Friday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
