Obituary for Lewis Hartless Sperka Lewis Hartless Sperka
Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship Member Was Burlington Industries Retiree

Lewis Hartless Sperka, 83, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at his home.

Born August 20, 1930 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Lawrence E. Sperka and Ida Belle Hartless Sperka.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin L. Sperka.

Lewis was a member of Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship for 55 years, where he served as Sunday school teacher, trustee, treasurer, and board member for many of those years.

He was also involved in various community activities such as Rockbridge County men's prayer breakfast.

Lewis was retired from Burlington Industries after 34 years and was also a veteran of the United States Army.

Surviving are his wife, Thelma Sperka; a son, Robert L. Sperka and wife, Melissa, of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandchildren, Chase and Jordan; and brother, Ernest Sperka of Natural Bridge.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship with the Rev. David Bain and Rev. Carl Early officiating. Burial will follow at Glasgow Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday October 21, 2013 at Harrison Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lewis's Memory to Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship Building Fund, P.O. Box 126, Natural Bridge Station, VA 24579.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va.
