Obituary for Lucy Jane Van Buren Lucy Jane Van Buren
Former Clifton Forge Resident Dies In Maryland

Lucy Jane Van Buren, age 83, of Halethorpe, Maryland, formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday October 27, 2013 in Maryland.

She was born July 15, 1930 in Selma, Virginia, a daughter of the late Forrest Alonzo Carter and Lucy Jane Warlitner Carter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Nelson Van Buren, in 1977; two sisters, Eloise Sais and Helen Howe; two brothers, Edlow Carter and Elmer Carter; and two step-brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Wanda VanBuren of Halethorpe, Maryland; four sisters, Anna Reynolds, and Virginia Looney, both of Covington; Evelyn Groves of Baltimore, Maryland, and Edith Graziano and husband, Joe of Glen Burnie, Maryland; and three brothers, Fred Carter and wife, Roymane of Selma, John Carter and Irving Carter, both of Clifton Forge.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the mausoleum chapel of Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, with the Reverend Hunter Hale officiating. Interment will follow immediately.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
