Obituary for William Stanley (Bill) Cantrell William Stanley (Bill) Cantrell
Dominion Power Retiree Was Clifton Forge Native

William Stanley (Bill) Cantrell, age 82, of the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Salem, VA, and formerly of Clifton Forge and Richmond, VA, Atlanta, GA, Sarasota, FL, and West Virginia, and died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, VA.

He was born January 26, 1931 in Clifton Forge, to the late James Alfred and Edna Bower Cantrell.

He retired from Dominion Virginia Power after more than twenty years, also worked for NASA, and was the founder of "HELP" in Sarasota, FL.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and attended Beacon Baptist Church in Salem.

He was a 50 year member of the First Christian Church in Clifton Forge, past member and past President of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, past member of the Lions Club of Newport News, and greatly enjoyed politics.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosalie Cunningham, Marion Wrenn and Joan Saunders, and a brother, James Cantrell.

He is survived by two daughters, Carrie Lee Browning of Goochland and Kimberley Cantrell of Linwood, New Jersey; a sister, Sylvia Montgomery of Richmond; two granddaughters, Sarah Gorman and Erin Catelin Gorman-Hughes; two great granddaughters; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Dr. Don Woodard officiating. Military rites will be conducted by members of the Burnside-Carpenter VFW Post 4299. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. There will be no formal visitation.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
