Obituary for Frances Snider Markham Frances Snider Markham
Falling Spring Church Member Was Burlington Industries Retiree

Frances Snider Markham, 87, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 12, 2013.

Mrs. Markham was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Melvin Markham.

Frances was a member of Falling Spring Church, and retired from what was then Burlington Industries in Glasgow after 50 plus years of service.

Frances had the distinct honor of being the first female employee to reach the 50 year mark.

Frances was blessed with many friends in the area and she stayed in touch with all of them through the years. If anyone was having trouble remembering the details of one of the good times they had, Frances was the one person they could rely on to remember.

She loved gardening, baking, and music and had a special place in her heart for all animals. Most recently, she cared for her cat, Lili, who is 22 years old and going strong; and Bosco, the family's brown lab.

Family members remaining to cherish her memory include her brother, Lawrence Snider and wife, Helen, her daughter, Lisa Markham, and husband, John, her son, Eddie Edwards, and wife, Sheena, her grandson, Dylan Markham, and wife, Melissa, and her foster daughter, Mary Clemmer, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Family and friends are invited to the Harrison Funeral home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, for an hour of fellowship and reflection. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in their chapel.

After the service, everyone is encouraged to gather at the home of Lisa and John to celebrate Frances' life. Flowers are appreciated; however anyone wishing to make a donation to Falling Spring Church is welcome to do so.
