Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Meadows May Mary Elizabeth Meadows May
Former Domestic Engineer Was Alleghany County Native

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Meadows May, age 93, of Clifton Forge, died Friday, November 22, 2013, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor.

She was the wife of the late Lonnie Glenn May, Sr.

Mrs. May was born July 14, 1920 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Phil Meadows and Maggie Thacker Meadows.

She worked at the Salterini Plant and the Halamode Sewing Factory and later as a domestic engineer, cleaning homes for several people in the area.

Her greatest love was going for long rides in the country looking for animals.

She also enjoyed ginsanging, reading, working with her flowers and when possible in her garden.

Mrs. May was the last surviving member of her family.

Mrs. May is survived by sons, John P. May, and wife, Joyce of Covington, Michael R. May and wife, Alice of Covington; her daughter, Christine Martin and husband, Donald of Paint Bank; two daughters-in-law, Wanda B. May of Hot Springs and Ruby A. May of Covington; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; one childhood friend, Mildred Richmond, and her daughter, Coleen; special friend, Abe Wolfe; a great number of nieces and nephews; and her family for the last three years, the Woodlands Health and Rehab.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. May was preceded in death by her stepmother, Myrtle Meadows; two sons, Lonnie G. May, Jr. and Preston B. May; a daughter, Barbara Southall; and two granddaughters, Beth Ann Pack and Baby Lakin Brown.

Her family at this time would like to thank all of you who took time out to visit with her at the Woodlands and a great special thank you to the entire staff of the Woodlands Health and Rehab because without you we would not have had her as long as we did. May God Bless each and every one of you.

A visitation will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2013, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home.
