Obituary for Aubrey David (Buddy) Ervin, Jr. Aubrey David (Buddy) Ervin, Jr.
Lifetime Covington Resident Was Former MeadWestvaco Maintenance Supervisor

Aubrey David (Buddy) Ervin, Jr., 80, of 2303 Evergreen Road, Covington, Virginia,went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2013, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was the husband of Beverly Rickett Ervin.

He was born October 18, 1933, the son of the late Aubrey D. Ervin, Sr. and Hallie Buchanan Ervin.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Humphries Ervin in 1981; one sister, Emma Jean Duvall in 1982, and his father-in-law, Leonard Rickett in 2001.

He was a lifetime member of this community, graduating from Covington High School and serving in the United States Navy from 1952 until 1956.

He retired from Westvaco Corporation as East Mill Maintenance Supervisor in 1989 with 33 years of service.

Buddy was an active part of the Arritt Funeral Home family from 1991 to 2011.

He was a member of the loving and caring church family of Temple Baptist Church.

He was a lifetime member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an honorary member of the Westvaco Rescue Squad.

In addition to his wife of 31 years, Buddy is survived by one brother, William Ervin and his wife, Jean of East Amherst, NY; one sister, Judy Hunt of Goose Creek, SC; one brother-in-law, Charles Duvall and his wife, Doris of Millsboro, DE; one aunt, Delilah Ervin of Covington; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Len and Christy Rickett of New Castle and Gary and Melanie Rickett of Covington, and nine nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held Monday, December 2, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William M. Hartsfield officiating.

Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Temple Baptist Church, 300 Stratton St, Covington, VA 24426; Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422; or the Cancer Center Fund, First National Bank, 151 North Court Ave., Covington, VA 24426.
