Buena Vista Native Was Longtime Beautician
Esther Taylor Tomlin, 95, of Buena Vista, Virginia, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 2, 2013, at Kendal at Lexington, The Borden Health Center.
She was born on April 25, 1918, in Buena Vista, Virginia, a daughter of the late Charles and Laura Phillips Taylor.
She was raised by her brother and his wife, the late Earl and Lena Taylor.
She was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren and she was retired from many jobs, her last being a beautician in her home, first in Buena Vista and then in Chester, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Oscar J. Hostetter and Woodrow W. Tomlin Sr.; a son, Don W. Hostetter; a grandson, Jeff Armstrong; five brothers; two half brothers; and one half sister.
She is survived by a daughter, Charlene H. Armstrong and husband, Charles, of Buena Vista, VA; stepdaughters, Joan T. Bell and husband, Jimmy, of Prince George, Va., and June T. Thompson and husband, Alan, of Chesterfield, VA; a special stepson, Woodrow W. Tomlin Jr. and wife, Marsha, of Chesterfield, VA; a granddaughters, Karen B. Hobbs and husband, T.C,. of Hopewell, VA, and Joanne B. Kirkland and husband, Brad, of Prince George, VA; a stepgrandson, Kevin Bultje and wife, Natalie, of Chesterfield, VA; two great granddaughters, Erika M. Mitchell and husband, Dustin, of Chesterfield, VA, and Alyssa Bultje, of Chesterfield, VA; great grandson, Andrew Bultje and wife, Brittney, of Chesterfield, VA; half sister, Phyllis M. Taylor; special niece, Joyce T. Gunter, of Harrisonburg, VA; and special nephew, Charles L. Taylor, of Buena Vista, VA.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Russ Barb officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stone Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, Va., 540-261-5510.
