Obituary for Joe Ray Rumfelt Joe Ray Rumfelt
U.S. Army Veteran Was Retired Dominion Power Supervisor

Joe Ray Rumfelt, age 71, of 1412 Donovan Street, Selma, Virginia, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at his residence.

He was born June 9, 1942 in Marion, North Carolina, to the late Andrew Francis and Mary Ethel Swain Rumfelt.

He served in the United States Army for three years, specializing in communications.

He was a retired supervisor and line foreman for Dominion Virginia Power and a member of White Rock Community Church.

He loved his family and enjoyed woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann "Judy" Albright Rumfelt in May of 2000.

He is survived by four sons, Joe Woodrow Rumfelt of Wake Forest, NC, Timothy Andrew Rumfelt of Roanoke, Gerald Wayne Rumfelt and wife, Miranda of Covington, and Robert Dewayne Rumfelt and fiance, Ashley Clark of Covington; three sisters, Brenda Fordham, Kathy Rose and husband, George, and Sandy Hale, all of Williamsburg; a brother, Bucky Rumfelt of Farmville; two grandsons, Andrew and Joseph; a number of nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends, including special friend, Andy Anderson.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

There will be no services at this time. The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is in charge of arrangements.
