Lucille McNulty Bess, of the Beth Sholom Home in Richmond, Virginia, and formerly of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday December 1, 2013.

She was born in Covington, a daughter of the late John and Minnie Merritt McNulty.

Mrs. Bess was an employee of the former industrial Rayon Corp. and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Bess in 2010, and also by one brother, James H. McNulty and sister-in-law, Lura McNulty.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Bess of Richmond; two nieces, Doris Hayes and her husband, Billy of Staunton, and Betty Jean Bess of Covington; one nephew, Julian Bess and his wife, Teresa of Frederick, MD; a very special other daughter, Shawn Truett and her husband, Ben of Clifton Forge and a devoted caregiver, Aliyah Crowley of Richmond.

The funeral service was held Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating.
