Obituary for John William Swisher John William Swisher
Georgia Bonded Fibers Retiree

John William Swisher, 85, of Raphine, Virginia, died on Monday, December 9, 2013, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born on February 5, 1928, in Rockbridge County, a son of the late John Henry Swisher and Bertha Wade Swisher.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wade, Lewis, and Harry Swisher; one sister, Emily Tillery; and fiancee, Marie Runkle.

John worked at Burlington Industries and retired from Georgia Bonded Fibers to be a farmer. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 2135 in Fairfield, Virginia.

Surviving are four siblings, Mildred Ing, of Annadale, Ann Beard, of Raphine, Jo Heath, of Brownsburg, and Henry Swisher, of New Hope. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Phillip Mace officiating. Burial will be private at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family asks that instead of flowers, please make a contribution to a charity of choice.
