Former Halmode Apparel Company Employee Dies At Age 76

Barbara Moats Cadd, 76, of 1206 Dolly Ann Drive, Covington, Virginia, died Friday, December 20, 2013 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor.

She was born June 24, 1937 in Covington, a daughter of the late Julian and Laura Wolfe Moats.

Mrs. Cadd was employed at the former Halmode Apparel Company in Covington as a service clerk.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Malcom E. Cadd of Covington; two daughters, Christy Gunter and husband, Kenny of Covington; Pam Snead and husband, Joe of Clayton, NC; five grandchildren, Tonja Mitchell and Steven Ratliff of Clifton Forge; Crystal Griffith and husband, Bobby of Covington; Angel Williams and husband, Lee of Clayton, NC; Andrea Fridley and husband, Travis of garner, NC and Christopher of Clayton, NC.; six great grandchildren, Devin Terry of Glen Wilton, Haley Terry of Covington, Dalton Griffith and Brycen Griffith, both of Covington; Mckenzie Williams of Clayton, NC and Levi Fridley of Garner, NC; one sister, Shelby Goode and husband, Kenny of Covington and one special niece, Debby Morrison and Charley of Iron Gate.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Warren officiating.

The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Active pallbearer will be Devin Terry, Christopher Snead, Bobby Griffith, Lee Williams, Travis Fridley and Steven "Peewee" Ratliff.
