Longtime Covington Resident Dies At Age 84

Eunice Lorriane Roberts Snead, age 84, of Covington, Virginia, passed away at The Brian Center in Low Moor, Virginia on December 24, 2013 following an extended illness.

Eunice was born on December 30, 1928 in Covington, VA, the oldest daughter of the late Landon G. "Grayson" Roberts and Donna J. Roberts.

She was raised in Covington and graduated from Covington High School. She furthered her education by taking classes at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

She married Raymond A. Snead on June 1, 1947 in Covington, VA and they were blessed with five children.

She was preceded in death by husband, Raymond; son, Cary G. Snead and brother, Paul Roberts.

She worked at Charles P. Jones Memorial Library and is retired from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.

She was a lifetime member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church of Covington.

She enjoyed cooking, bird watching, flowers, picnics and reading.

Survivors include Dr. Raymond A. Snead, Jr. and wife, JoAnn of Marietta, GA, Joseph W. Snead and wife, Pam of Chesterfield, VA, Martha S. Olesak and husband, Steve of Kalamzoo, MI and Timothy J. Snead and wife, Lisa of Covington. Ten grandchildren, Elizabeth Richards and husband, Brett, Raymond A. Snead, III and wife, Lane, Angel Williams and husband, Lee, Andrea Fridley and husband, Travis, Christopher Snead, Kristen Snead, Heather Snead, Patrick Olesak, Daniel Olesak, and Cary Olesak; three great grandchildren; sisters, Anna Shepard of Roanoke, VA and Janet InAlbon of Phoenix, AZ; two sister-in-laws; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family requests in lieu of flowers that gifts can be directed to Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church in Covington, VA in her memory.

A cremation has been performed and a memorial service will be planned in the near future.
