Former Jane Colby, Kool-Dri Employee Was Charter Member Of The Millboro Area Rescue Squad

Mrs. Gladys Virginia Liptrap Ryder, age 83, of 349 Mill Creek Road, Millboro, Virginia, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany, Low Moor.

Gladys was born on November 1, 1930 in Bath County, a daughter of the late Charles Clifton Liptrap and Carrie Virginia Jack Liptrap.

She was employed by Jane Colby and Kool-Dri, retiring in 2005.

She was member of Windy Cove Presbyterian Church and attended Millboro Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the Millboro Area Rescue Squad and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Willie Samuel Ryder; three daughters, Kaye May and husband, Dallas of Millboro, Faye Bottenfield of Fort Defiance, and Darlene Wolfe of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren, Pam Wolfe Fitzgerald and husband, Patrick of Greenville, Sara Bottenfield of Staunton, Jennifer May Crawford and husband, Joey of Iron Gate, Martha Bottenfield Lawrence and husband, Nate of Staunton, and Jason May and wife, Courtney of Buchanan; a great-granddaughter, Sadie May of Buchanan; one brother, Donald Liptrap of Covington; a special nephew, Kenneth Liptrap of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifton Liptrap and Charles Liptrap.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Friday, January 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodland Union Church in Millboro, with Pastor David George officiating. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery immediately following the service.

Active pallbearers will be Jason May, Joey Crawford, Patrick Fitzgerald, Nate Lawrence, Lester Bowyer and Steve Quick. The family received friends on Thursday, January 16, from 6:30Ð8:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge and other times at the home of Willie Ryder, 349 Mill Creek Road in Millboro.
