Robert M. Lawrence, Jr., D.D.S., 85, of Lexington, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014.

He conducted his dental practice for over 37 years in Lexington.

Born May 30, 1928, the son of the late Robert Marshall Lawrence and Annie Elizabeth H. Lawrence.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Margaret (Peggy) L. Roudabush.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Polly) G. Lawrence, Lexington; two sons, Steven M. Lawrence and wife, Susan L. H. Lawrence of Rockbridge County, their children Jacob, Mary Katherine, Margaret and Michael, and William R. Lawrence and wife, Katherine T. Lawrence of Richmond, and their children, William and Katherine. Also surviving is his niece, Marilynn R. Gale.

Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held at Robert E. Lee Episcopal Church Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, request contributions be made to the Rockbridge chapter of the American Cancer Society.
