Self-Employed Beautician Was Longtime Sharon Baptist Church Member

Shirley Robinson Brown, age 75, of 7006 Collierstown Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday, January 27, 2014 at her residence.

Shirley was born March 2, 1938 in Clifton Forge to the late John R. and Estelle Patterson Robinson.

She was a self-employed beautician with over fifty years of experience in the community and was a longstanding, active member of Sharon Baptist Church, where she served as pianist and treasurer of the Sharon Baptist Cemetery.

She also served as treasurer of the Longdale Water Fund, and was a dedicated worker at the polls during elections.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Owen Brown; a son, Raymond Keith "Chucky" Brown; a brother, Frank L. Robinson; and a sister, Edith Robinson McNabb Boone.

She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Brown Collins of Richmond; a brother, John E. "Bud" Robinson of Clifton Forge; a grandson, Keith Brown and wife, Kate of Clifton Forge; four great grandchildren, Maddi Brown, Alli Brown, Carson Brown and Emeri Brown; two nephews, Frank "Butch" Robinson and wife, Dreama of Clifton Forge and Charles William "Bill" McNabb and wife, Janet of Surfside Beach, SC; a niece, Judy McNabb Bayne and husband, Roger of Winston-Salem, NC; and special family members, Daniel Brown and family of Lansing, MI and Brian Smith and family of Covington.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Eric Gabbert and Reverend Lester Kennedy officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
