Obituary for Pauline Nelson Vest Conner Pauline Nelson Vest Conner
Longtime Homemaker Was Rockbridge County Native

Pauline Nelson Vest Conner, age 69, of 2316 White Rock Road, Lexington, Virginia, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at her residence.

She was born April 1, 1944 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, to the late Lorenzo Vest, Sr. and Myrtle Smith Vest.

She was a homemaker throughout her life, loved gardening and enjoyed her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James "Jim" Vest and Donald Vest, and a grandson, Philip Earl Conner.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Conner, Sr. of Lexington; a daughter, Donna Faye Southers and husband, Ted of Lexington; a son, Roy Earl Conner, Jr. of Collierstown; three sisters, Edith Petty of Goshen, Nancy Higgins of Lexington and Charlene Humphreys of Millboro; a brother, Lorenzo Vest, Jr. of Lexington; four grandchildren, Jade Marie Conner, Junior Southers, Travis Southers and Tonya Southers; four great grandchildren, Chasity Southers, Alex Southers, Cheyenne Southers and Dylan Southers; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Lester Kennedy officiating.

Interment will follow immediately.

Pallbearers will be David Sibold, Wayne Pritt, Calvin Conner, Brandon Nicely, Phillip Tomlin, Timmy Goodbar, Floyd Pritt, Jim Vest, Jr., Junior Southers and Travis Southers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
