Legal Professional Was Lexington Resident, N. J. Native

Marjorie Gail Wilson Furmick, 71, of Lexington, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior February 1, 2014, surrounded by her husband and children.

She was born November 23, 1942, the fourth of five daughters to the late Hon. Judge James E. Wilson and Beatrice Ward Wilson, of Caldwell, N.J., where she was raised.

After graduation from Grover Cleveland High School in 1960, and then Berkley Business College, she followed her father into the legal profession.

She enjoyed a lengthy career as a legal secretary and paralegal professional. She closed her business office in 1996 and retired with her husband to Lexington.

Known to her sisters as Margie, she was a Marine wife, a member of the "extended family" of the Stonewall Jackson House Museum, the Lexington Carriage Company, as well as the Lexington Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her loving husband of 48 years, Peter Richard Furmick; a daughter, Kristin Maria Furmick-Zemanek (Stan), of Washington, N.J.; a son, Peter James Furmick Sr., of Parker, Colo.; her granddaughters, Casey Marie Zemanek and Taylor Anne Zemanek; her grandsons, Peter James Furmick Jr., and Caiden Luke Furmick; her sisters, Beatrice Joan Powell, of Oak Harbor, Wash., Nancy Patricia Wilson, of Alameda, Calif., and Susan Jane Poling, of Caldwell, N.J. Her sister, Marilyn Wilson Bernard, predeceased her.

The family wishes to thank the loving and compassionate staff of DaVita Dialysis Center, Lexington, who helped her fight her three-year battle with End Stage Renal Disease.

The family will receive friends at Harrison Funeral Home, 714 South Main Street, Lexington, February 4, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m.

A celebration of her life will be conducted at Lexington Presbyterian, 120 South Main Street, Lexington, by Dr. William M. Klein 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, followed by a reception. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in her memory to the Lexington Rescue Squad, 108 South Main Street, Lexington, VA 24450; or to Autism Speaks, www.autismspeaks.org.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
