Obituary for Evelyn Dudley Anderson Evelyn Dudley Anderson
Registered Nurse Had Career Which Spanned Four Decades

Evelyn Dudley Anderson, age 91, of the Brian Center, Low Moor, Virginia, and formerly of Second Street, Clifton Forge, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Brian Center.

She was born July 15, 1922 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late William M. and Lucy Maupin Dudley.

She was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School and the Chesapeake and Ohio School of Nursing.

Her career as a registered nurse spanned four decades with the C & O Hospital, Emmett Memorial Hospital, Alleghany Regional Hospital and private duty nursing.

She retired as Clinical Coordinator from Alleghany Regional Hospital.

She was a member and past Section President for the Virginia State Nurses Association, and wrote a book entitled "Get Down Out of That Window", which was a collection of stories from her nursing career.

She was a lifetime member of the Central United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Annie Livesay Circle, was a member of the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, the Clifton Forge Women's Club, the Order of the Eastern Star Martha Chapter # 21, the Fortnightly Bridge Club, other bridge clubs, the Red Hat Society, and was a member and past President of the Clifton Forge VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

When she had time to relax, she enjoyed fishing, painting and many other hobbies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, James Nathaniel "Spider" Anderson, Sr.; a brother, Clarence N. Dudley; and two sisters, Catherine D. Bailey and Mildred D. Horton. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Anderson Cardinal and husband, Peter of Clifton Forge; a son, James Nathaniel "Andy" Anderson, Jr. and wife, Karen of Lewisburg, WV; seven grandchildren, William Wilson and wife, Lori, James "Jay" Wilson and wife, Samantha, Matthew Wilson, Shane Anderson and wife, Karina, Lori McGee and husband, Patrick, Michael O'Leary, Jr. and wife, Amanda and Daniel O'Leary; fourteen great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Ned Alderman officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be William Wilson, Jay Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Michael O'Leary, Daniel O'Leary, Shane Anderson and Nathan Wilson.

Mrs. Anderson's family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, and other times at her daughter's residence, 1506 Linden Avenue, Clifton Forge.
