Faith Baptist Church Member Dies At Age 79

Mary Kay McKnight Johnson, age 79, of The Woodlands Nursing Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, and formerly of Clifton Woods Apartments, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at The Woodlands.

She was born March 10, 1934 in Covington, Virginia, the daughter of the late Glen and Virginia Benson McKnight.

Mrs. Johnson was a former employee of Barr Topham Variety Store in Covington and babysat for many area children.

She was a homemaker and a charter member of Faith Baptist Church and the bus ministry.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her time with family, friends and her pet dog.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Marty McKnight and Dr. Glenn Dean McKnight.

She is survived by three daughters, Catherine Chambers and husband Mark of Covington, Sharon Johnson of Roanoke, and Valerie Marshall and husband, Timothy, Sr. of Clifton Forge; a son, Brian Johnson and wife, Becky of Covington; seven grandchildren, Christopher Chambers, Hannah Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Timothy Marshall, Jr. , Brandon Marshall, Adrin Marshall and Cameron Marshall; one great granddaughter, Emma Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Billy Price officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 PM until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Faith Baptist Church, 311 Jackson Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
