Retired Bennett Sawmill Employee Was Lone Star Advent Christian Church Member
Grayson Armadale Curtis, Sr., age 72, of 4101 Forty-Two Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at his residence.
He was born March 13, 1941 in Alleghany County, Virginia, to the late Lewis Oscar and Blanche Belle Nicely Curtis.
He was a retired laborer with thirty-eight years of service with Bennett Sawmill.
He was a member of Lone Star Advent Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Persinger and Mabel Waters; and five brothers, Cletus Curtis, Ollie Curtis, Kenneth Curtis, Quincy Curtis and Cleveland Curtis.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Curtis of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Glendora Renee Jackson and husband, James of Nicelytown, Clifton Forge, Tammy Lou Wright and husband, Lee of Covington, and Monica Geraldine York and husband, Michael of Clifton Forge; a son, Grayson Shawn Curtis and wife, Tammy Marie of Glen Wilton; a sister, Geraldine Loving of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Paul Curtis and wife, Birdie of Clifton Forge and Carlos Curtis and wife, Cindy of Clifton Forge; nine grandchildren, James Anthony Jackson and wife, Sheena, Rachel Lee Jackson, Amber Gracena Curtis, Grayson Cheyenne Curtis, and wife, Mikayo, Grace Ann Curtis, Hannah Brooke Curtis, Grayson Shawn Curtis, Jr., John Robert Broy, Jr. and Sierra Ranee Broy; four great grandchildren, Sidney, Samuel, Ellie Mae, and Emma Jo; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Doug Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge.
Active pallbearers will be Grayson Shawn Curtis, Grayson Cheyenne Curtis, John Robert Broy, Jr., James Edward Jackson, James Anthony Jackson, Lee Wright, William Wright and Steve Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Downey, Randy Nicely, Sonny Higgins, James Taliaferro, Tony Angle and Pud Higgins.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
