Dallas Wilbur Broughman, age 75, of 425 Sally Ann Drive, Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at The Golden Living Center in Clifton Forge.

He was born April 27, 1938 in Botetourt County, Virginia, to the late John Fred and Josephine Duke Broughman.

He served from 1959 until 1962 in the United States Army as Specialist 1st Class, stationed in Germany.

He retired as an oiler after twenty-seven years with MeadWestvaco and was a former member of the Westvaco Union 675.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

He is survived by a daughter, Marie Truslow of Staunton; a son, Dwayne Broughman and wife, Martha of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Emma Adams of Roanoke and Dora Mae Greif of Jacksonville, North Carolina; a brother, Joe Broughman of Eagle Rock; two grandchildren, Levi Alexander Broughman and David Price; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Doug Moore officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.

Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service.

The family will receive friends on Friday morning, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of Dwayne and Martha Broughman, 101 Buck Horn Trail, Clifton Forge, VA.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Covington Rescue Squad, 435 W. Hawthorne Street, Covington, VA 24426.
