Donnie Ray Richmond, 58, of 502 East Kline Street, Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Lewis GaleŠSalem Hospital.

Mr. Richmond was born May 27, 1955 in Covington, a son of the late Jesse James and Rosie Jones Richmond.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Crawford Richmond of Covington; his step-son, Jerry Ashby of Roanoke; his step-daughter, Vickie Redmond of Clifton Forge; five step-grandchildren, Dallas Ervin, Destiny Redmond, Madison Redmond, Jeremey Ashby and Brooklyn Ashby; his sister, Kathleen Davis; his faithful caregiver, Marsha Griffith, and special friends, Jeff Lamb, Larry and Berdina Peters, Wendell Hosey, Gladys Stanaker, Gary Gordon, Justin Batten, Jonathan Batten, Margaret Hematite, Isabella Tingler, Leroy Downey and Dale Anderson.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

The funeral service was held Friday, April 4, 2014, in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating.

Following the service, the family received their friends at Arritt Funeral Home.
