Transportation Supervisor At Homestead Dies At Age 45

Sherry Sue Wilhelm Bogan, 45, of 190 Tinkertown Road, Hot Springs, Virginia, and formerly of Clifton Forge, died early Saturday morning, April 12, 2014, at her residence.

She was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia, on September 2, 1968, a daughter of Edward G. and Seatta Francis Wilhelm of Clifton Forge.

Sherry was a Transportation Supervisor and Dispatcher for The Homestead in Hot Springs.

She was a 1987 graduate of Alleghany High School and a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church.

Sherry loved the outdoors, especially kayaking, camping, fishing and 4-wheeling.

She loved to attend Blue Grass music festivals.

She was a great supporter of Virginia Tech sports, the Washington Redskins and NASCAR drivers Mark Martin and Kevin Harvick.

Sherry's favorite place was on the beach at Hatteras, North Carolina.

She was a very giving person and loved to care for others. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Larry Wayne Bogan of Hot Springs; a step son, Dustin Bogan of Winchester; 3 sisters, Angie Wilhelm of Lexington, Lisa Talifiaferro and husband, James, Jr. of Clifton Forge and Elaine Campbell and husband, Darrell of Montvale; mother and father-in-law, MaryAnn and William Bogan of Warm Springs; brother-in-law, Gary Bogan and wife, Frances of Warm Springs; sister-in-law, Shiela Riley of Millboro; special nephews, Brandon and Scott Campbell, Matthew Bogan, Christian, Levi and Moses Riley; a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins; and her special companions Pearl and Shilo.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wilhelm, and her maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. James A. Francis. A funeral service was conducted Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with Pastor Bill Gram and Rev. Billy Robertson officiating.

In keeping with her wishes , her body will be cremated following the service. The family received friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.

Friends may call any time at the home of William and Mary Ann Bogan, 17252 Sam Snead Highway, Warm Springs or at the home of Eddie and Seatta Wilhelm, 1411 Woodlawn Street, Clifton Forge.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, Alleghany Highlands Division, c/o Karen Buzzard, 807 McCormick Boulevard, Clifton Forge, 24422 or to the Alleghany Humane Society, P.O. Box 60, Low Moor, Va. 24457.
