Obituary for Lucille Pritt Black Lucille Pritt Black
Former Homestead Housekeeping Department Employee Was Private Car Giver

Lucille Pritt Black, 89, of 9405 Sam Snead Highway, Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs, surrounded by her family.

She was born March 15, 1925 in Hot Springs, the daughter of the late David Franklin Pritt and Susie Mines Pritt.

She was retired from the Homestead Resort Housekeeping Department with 21 years of service.

After she retired, Mrs. Black did private care for several families in Bath County.

She was a member of Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church and a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was married to Vestia Palmer Black, whom she married on December 9, 1951. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1988.

She is survived by five children, Virginia Pauline Brown of Hot Springs, David Franklin Black and wife, Kathy of Covington, Virginia, Billy Eugene Black and Tammy of Roanoke, Virginia, Linda Woodzell and special fFriend, Charlie Sydenstricker, and Ida Ryder all of Hot Springs; and 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a number nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Vestia "June" Palmer Black, Jr.; three brothers, Harry, Charles and James Pritt; three sisters, Bertha Pritt, Margaret Mines and Barbara Hiner; a son-in-law, Mike Woodzell.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating. Interment will be in Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Manny Woodzell. Ben Black, Marvin Brown, Jr., Matthew Black, Chris Black, Charlie Sydenstrickler, Corey Perdue and Sam Hiner, Jr.

The family will receive friends from Monday evening from 6:00 Ð 8:00 p.m., at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home, or anytime at the home of Mrs. Black.
