Buchanan Native Was Former U. S. Forestry Service Employee

Mr. Everett (Big Boy) Conor Smith, age 90, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at his residence.

He was the husband of the late Louise Webb Smith.

Mr. Smith was born January 8, 1924 in Buchanan, the son of the late John C. Smith and Annie Mae Burkholder Smith.

He worked with the United States Forestry Service.

Everett was of the Baptist faith.

He was a wrestling fan and loved his cats, Bo and Midnight.

Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Debbie Peters and Rosalyn Brown and husband, Richard, all of Covington; three grandchildren, Ron Smith, April Clark and Richard Brown; and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

A funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2014, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Freeman Coffey officiating. Interment followed in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Richard Brown, Shawn Brown, Dean Webb, Todd Williams, Rocky Williams and Asher Webb. Alternate pallbearer will be Mike Davenport.

The family received friends Saturday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and at the residence of Debbie Peters, 110 Mt. Pleasant Drive, Covington, at other times.
