Longtime Teacher Was Florida Resident, Clifton Forge Native

Virginia Lee Elfrink, age 85 of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

She died peacefully of a natural death following a long illness.

The funeral will be held at Alleghany Memorial Park, 7008 Winter Berry Ave., Covington, Virginia, on Monday, July 7th at 10:00 a.m.

Those wishing to attend the service should assemble at Alleghany Memorial Park by 9:30 a.m. The Reverend Bob Gilman of Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Covington will preside over the graveside services.

Virginia Lee (known as Lee) was born April 1, 1929 in the city of Clifton Forge, Virginia, as the only child of Edward Reinhold Rogers Jr. and Mary Lewis Rinehart.

She was married to Loui Donald Elfrink of Covington, Virginia, and will be laid to rest by his side.

She leaves behind four children: a son, Loui Donald Elfrink, Jr., a son, David Lee Elfrink, a daughter, Suzanne Bernhardt and a son, Gregory Reinhold Elfrink, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

During her lifetime she traveled the world from the United States to Japan as a military wife and mother.

Virginia Lee obtained an Associate of Arts Degree at Yuba College in Marysville, California in 1968. As a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, she graduated from the University of South Florida in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and settled on a career as school teacher at Elfers Elementary School in Elfers, FL, and Quail Hollow Elementary School in Zephryhiils, FL.

She was named Teacher of the Year at Quail Hollow Elementary in 1982, and was a member of the Florida Association of Science Teachers.

She was an avid reader, knitter, crocheter and creator of Japanese dolls. She will be in our hearts forever.

The Loving Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is handling the arrangements.
