Obituary for Faye Wade Scruggs Faye Wade Scruggs
Lifelong Nurse Was Clifton Forge Native

Faye Wade Scruggs, 84, of 1301 Wood Lawn Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday July 1, 2014 at her residence.

She was born in Clifton Forge, on September 27, 1929, a daughter of the late, Richard V. Wade and the late Vernon Wade Tennant.

She was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School, and the C&O Training School for Nurses.

She followed a career of nursing throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Sally Wade Scruggs; two brothers, Richard V. Wade and Ernest J. Wade; and a sister, Kathryn W. Shirkey.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert O. Scruggs; three sisters, Jane W. Teefey and husband, Bill, of Richmond, Anne W. Lawler of Durham, NC, Reva W. Fairburn and husband, Tom, of Goochland; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Haynes, of Radford, and Ruth S. Keyser and husband, Kenny, of Clifton Forge; a number of nieces, nephews and a devoted caregiver, Loren Beverly.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, with the Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park in Low Moor.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in her memory to your favorite charity.
