Obituary for William Alexander (Hobo) Harrison, Jr William Alexander (Hobo) Harrison, Jr
Former CSX Brakean Was Selma Native

William Alexander (Hobo) Harrison, Jr., age 75, of 1710 Main Street, Apt 316, Clifton Forge, Virginia, and formerly of Selma, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany, Low Moor.

He was born July 9, 1939 in Selma, Virginia, to the late William Alexander Harrison, Sr. and Ruby VanBuren Harrison.

He was a brakeman for CSX Transportation and a member of Harrison Hunt Club.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved animals.

In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his wife, Merle D. Linkswiler Harrison.

He is survived by a daughter, Kimmi Crawford and husband, Steve of Covington; three sons, Billy Harrison and wife Theresa of Covington, Kevin Harrison of Selma, and Bobby Harrison and wife, Stacy of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Mary Kincaid and Ann Scarbrough; three grandchildren, Jeremy Joines of Fredericksburg, Jillian Joines of Lexington, and Caleb Harrison of Clifton Forge; two great grandchildren, Landon Joines and Christian Rice; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend and companion, Charlotte Curtis of Clifton Forge.

A graveside funeral service was held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Gordon Joines officiating. There was no formal visitation. However, friends may call any time at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457 or to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
