Obituary for Robert (Bob) McKee Lair Robert (Bob) McKee Lair
MeadWestvaco Retiree Was Virginian-Review Political Cartoonist

Mr. Robert (Bob) McKee Lair, age 71, of Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Lair was born September 7, 1942 in Covington, the son of the late Robert Elmer Lair, Jr. and Gladys Kyle Lair.

Bob served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

He was employed by Westvaco, where he worked as a draftsman in the Engineering Department and in the Maintenance Department before retiring as a maintenance planner.

During his working career, Mr. Lair had also worked for Ferguson Enterprises, Inc and Bacova Guild.

Bob enjoyed riding motorcycles, being outdoors in the summertime, cartooning, sketching and did the political cartoons for the Virginian Review newspaper for a number of years.

Mr. Lair is survived by one daughter, Terri Crum and husband, David; two granddaughters, Holly D. Crum and Allison E. Crum, all of Chesterfield; and one sister, Wanda Thacker of Covington.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

The family suggests that memorial tributes be made to the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.
