U. S. Navy Veteran Was Retired CSX Machinist

Frank Harmon (Harmie) Miller, Sr., age 87, of 1119 Staunton Street, Selma, Virginia, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Low Moor.

Born March 22, 1927 in Clifton Forge, he was a son of the late Everette Lynn and Annie Evans Miller.

He served in the Unites States Navy during World War II and was a retired machinist for CSX Transportation.

He served on the Alleghany County Planning Commission, and was a member of the Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge # 166 A.F. & A.M., the Blue Ridge Soaring Society, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Selma Hunt Club, and Epworth United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Everette Lynn Miller, Jr., and a sister, Doris Jeanne "Dottie" Naumann.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Carter Miller of Selma; a daughter, Barbara Mae Tucker and husband, Tommy of Clifton Forge; two sons, Frank Harmon Miller, Jr. and wife, Carrollynn of Troutville, and David Lee Miller and wife, Laura of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Seth Lockhart, Emily Miller, Hannah Miller, Adam Miller, Rachael Miller, Sarah Miller and Carter Miller; a great granddaughter, Eliana Miller; a number of nieces and nephews: and his cats that he so dearly loved.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Dan Purdom officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.

Masonic rites will be conducted at the graveside by members of the Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge # 166 A.F. & A.M.

Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
