Obituary for Wanda Regina Conner Nicely Wanda Regina Conner Nicely
Alleghany County Native Worked With Jane Colby, Halmode

Wanda Regina Conner Nicely, age 81, of 104 Iron Ore Lane, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington.

She was born September 8, 1932 in Alleghany County, to the late Henry and Dorothy Hayslett Conner.

Wanda was a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of Longdale United Methodist Church.

She worked for Jane Colby and Halmode Apparel for a number of years and loved country music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Nicely in 1979; two sons, Milton Nicely and Paul "Alex" Nicely; a sister, Carstella Clark; and two brothers, Wayne Conner and Marvin Conner.

She is survived by her daughter, Janie Nicely of Buena Vista; two sons, Dale Nicely and fiancee, Debbie Petty of Goshen, and Brandon Nicely and wife, Bea of Clifton Forge; a daughter-in-law, Robin Nicely of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Lester Conner and wife, Cornelia and H. W. Conner and wife, Kitty, all of Clifton Forge; a sister-in-law, Carol Conner; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Charlene Thompson of Buena Vista and Tina Beverly.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in Longdale United Methodist Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend Lester Kennedy officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at the church.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements.
