Mr. Roy Elwood Woodson, age 86, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, August 17, 2014, at the Golden-Living Center-Alleghany, Clifton Forge.

Mr. Woodson was born August 8, 1928 in Covington, the son of the late James Ellis Woodson and Myrtle Thompson Woodson.

He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

During his working career, Roy was employed as a construction worker.

Mr. Woodson was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time in the mountains. He was a "people person" who enjoyed talking to everyone he met as well as liked animals, especially his dogs.

Mr. Woodson is survived by six sons, James Woodson, Mark Steven Woodson, Thomas Elwood Woodson, Gregory Wayne Woodson, Andrew Woodson and Terry Ellis Woodson; one daughter, Julie Woodson; former wife and dear friend, Mary Sue Arrington; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
