U. S. Army Veteran Was Mechanic, Farmer, Carpenter

Mr. Granville Lora (Dutch) Halfacre, age 80, was granted his angel wings on August 30, 2014.

He was the husband of Rosalee Miller "Rosie" Halfacre.

He was born in Odin, IL, the son of the late Selma and Ezra Halfacre.

Dutch had touched so many throughout his very memorable life. Dutch was first, a husband, a father, a cook, a mechanic, a farmer, a carpenter, and a friend to all. He enjoyed being with his family, hunting, fishing, and loved the Virginia mountains. He was creative, passionate and was a man of deep thoughts that a lot of people did not understand. He believed in truth and Jesus Christ.

Dutch was a veteran of the United States Army.

Dutch is survived by his one and only loving wife of fifty eight years, Rosie. He was extremely loving and proud of his loving children, Dale, Greg, Debbie and her husband, Bernie, Brian and his wife, Darlene; and he adored his grandchildren, Tanya, Amanda and Eric. He is also survived by his sister, Viola Nettleton; brothers, Eddie and his wife, Edith, Earnie (deceased) and his surviving wife, Margie, Norman and his wife, Sylvia, Bill and his wife, Chrissy, and Denny and his wife, Linda; his mother-in-law, Rosalyn Eleam; his brother-in-law, A.W. Pickle, III and his wife, Diane, along with many extended loving family nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at his residence, 709 Stringer Road, Covington, with Rev. Edith Snedegar officiating.

Graveside rites will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family suggests that memorial tributes be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc., 912 Killian Hill Road, SW, Lilburn, GA 30047.

The Loving Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
