Retired MeadWestvaco Team Leader Dies At Age 77

Raymond Ephrain Walton Jr., 77, died, Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center in Clifton Forge, Virginia.

He was born July 28, 1937, the son of the late Raymond E. and Mildred Linkswiller Walton.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister Carol Whitmore and one brother Harold Walton.

Mr. Walton retired from MeadWestvaco as a team leader on the #2 paper machine after 43 years of service.

He was a member of the South Covington United Methodist Church, a member of the Covington Masonic Lodge # 171, AF AM as a district Deputy, master of the lodge and secretary, former member of the Kiwanis Club, as well as receiving an Associate's Degree in Business Administration and Business Management at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Joyce Leffel Walton of Covington; a son, Greg Walton Waldorf, MD; two sisters, Brenda Haynes and Judy Thompson, both of Covington, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be held September 8, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Chuck Cole officiating with graveside rites by the Masonic Lodge # 171.

The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 a.m. untill 11:45 a.m. at the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home.

The family suggestions that memorial contributions in Mr. WaltonÕs name be made to the South Covington United Methodist Church food pantry.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
