Obituary for Charles Eugene Cox Charles Eugene Cox
Retired Lexington Motors Sales Manager Served For Years On The Rockbridge County Public Service Authority

Charles Eugene Cox, 82, of Lexington, Virginia, died Monday, September 22, 2014 at the Mayflower in Lexington, Virginia.

Born April 14, 1932 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Frank Blair Cox and Murrell Blackwell Cox.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Crist Cox; one brother, Fred Cox.

Mr. Cox was a member of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church and served on many committees and boards.

Gene served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He retired from Lexington Motors as the Sales Manager after forty years of service, served on the board of The Rockbridge County Public Service Authority, was a former Jaycee, and a member of the Lexington Country Club.

Surviving are his two daughters, Ann Mac Cox and husband, Richard Gibbons of Vienna, Va.; Pam Crist Hurley and husband, Jim of Norfolk, Va.; six siblings, Harvey Cox, Carl Cox, George Cox, Pauline Patteson, Nellie Long, Audrey Vailes; five grandchildren, Jimmy and Blair Hurley, Gavin, Austin and Erin Gibbons.

A graveside service was conducted 11 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at Timber Ridge A.R.P. Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Nix officiating.

The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va.
