Genesco Retiree Was Little River Church Of The Brethren Member

Elizabeth (Libby) Irene Burke, 90, of Goshen, Virginia, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Augusta Health.

She was born August 5, 1924 in Craigsville, Virginia, the daughter, of the late Lucille Holsinger Hite and step daughter, of Melvin Hite.

Libby was retired from Genesco in Verona.

She was a member of Little River Church of the Brethren.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.

She loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, and hunting.

Libby is survived by hersix sons, Robert F. Burke, Jr. of Staunton, McKinley H. Burke and wife, Helen of Staunton, Paul T. Burke and wife, Kaye of Craigsville, Ralph L. Burke and wife, Susie of Roanoke, Scottie T. Burke and wife, Roxie of Craigsville, Gene B. Burke and wife, Patty of Rockbridge Baths; three daughters, Doris B. Sibold of Lexington, Judy B. Gum and husband, Henry of Eagle Rock, Janet S. Burke of Lexington, and 14 step children; 23 grandchildren;nine step grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and her special friends, all the staff at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home for the loving care they gave.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her brother, Delbert Hite; and her two sisters, Deanna Colvin and Jane Reeves; and her grandson, Tommy Burke.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Craigsville Funeral Home with the Reverend Frank Tusing and the Reverend Scott Reese officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 26, at Craigsville Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Roanoke.
