Obituary for Francis Edwin (Pete) Bare Francis Edwin (Pete) Bare
Rockbridge County Native Was Longtime Burlington Industries Employee

Francis Edwin (Pete) Bare, 84, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 25, 2014 surrounded by loving family.

Pete was born in Rockbridge County and grew up on his parent's farm, known to many as Bare's Woods.

He is the son of the late O. Tankersley Bare and Mary McCormick Bare.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert E. Bare; and sister, Gwendolyn Bare Stuart.

Surviving Mr. Bare are his loving wife of 64 years, Helen W. Bare; his children, Mike Bare and wife Phyllis, Terri Bare Lowder, Randy Bare and wife, Kathie; grandchildren, Jonathan Lowder and wife, Jodie, Joshua Lowder and wife, Sierra, Christy Bare McDaniel and husband, Ray, Brittany Bare, Zack Rogers; and four great grandchildren.

Pete was a graduate of Natural Bridge High School and attended Phillips Business College. For 44 years he was a dedicated employee of Burlington Industries, where he worked in the Research and Development Department.

Pete was a loving and devoted son, father, and grandfather. He worked tirelessly on his childhood farm. He and his sons could be seen from Route 60 putting up hay on many occasions.

One of the greatest joys of his life was watching his grandchildren play sports. Although he played a variety of sports himself while attending Natural Bridge High School he quickly became a "True Blue".

Pete was a quiet, honest, generous, and hardworking man. He loved his family and his family adored him. "Pa-Pa Pete", as he was known to many will be greatly missed by all who spent time with him.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church. Visitation with the family will began at 1 p.m. also at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Buena Vista Presbyterian Church, 303 East 24th, Street Buena Vista, VA 24416 or Rockbridge Are Hospice, P. O. Box 948 Lexington, VA 24450.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, Va., 540-261-5510.
