Rockbridge County Native Dies At Age 94

Goldie Mutispaugh Harlow, 94, of Lexington, Virginia, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at her home.

Born March 2, 1920 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe Tilford Mutispaugh and Dora Moore Mutispaugh.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lurtie P. Harlow, Sr.; one son, Sterling E. Harlow; and many brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Harlow was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are one son, Lurtie "Pat" Harlow, Jr. and wife, Brenda; two daughters, Cheryl L. Cooper; Daphne Vaughan and husband, Ronnie; seven grandchildren, Bryan Harlow and wife, Emily; Christina Woodward and husband, J.B.; Ron Cooper and wife, Angie; Sean Cooper; Jim Graves and wife, Rowdie; Michael Graves and wife, Erin; Stephanie Harlow; thirteen great grandchildren, Jessica Bezold and husband, Justin; Kyle Cooper; Joshua and Bryce Graves; Kayleigh, McKenna, and Griffin Harlow; Jamey, Emily, and Isobel Graves; Jackson, Jacob, and Julieanne Woodward; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Americare and Rockbridge Area Hospice for the support and care given during Goldie's illness.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Goldie to the Rockbridge SPCA, P. O. Box 528, Lexington, VA 24450.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Butch Grow officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2014 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va., 540-463-2912
