Obituary for Violet Loretta Vest Vess Violet Loretta Vest Vess
Covington Native Loved Dancing

Mrs. Violet Loretta Vest Vess, age 90, of Covington, Virgina, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, October 9, 2014, at the Woodlands, Clifton Forge.

She was the loving wife of the late Fremont Archibald Vess, Sr.

Mrs. Vess was born February 16, 1924 in Covington, the daughter of the late Clarence B. Vest and Eva Benson Vest.

A homemaker, she had a lifetime love of dancing and enjoyed teaching others the time step as well as other dances.

She was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Vess was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Vess is survived by three sons, Robert Wayne Vess, Fremont A. "Monty" Vess, Jr. and wife, Betty Jo, and Carol Bruce Vess and wife, Kathy; one daughter-in-law, Gwen Vess Whitmore; eight grandchildren, Rob, Ricky, Michelle, Andrea, Jennifer, Benjie, Tomalei and Cortney; and nine great grandchildren, Danielle, Candice, Dalton, Dylan, Gavin, Zachary, Vivian, Tyler and Emma.

In addition to her parents and husband of seventy-two years, Mrs. Vess was preceded in death by an infant son, Fremont Adrian Vess; a son, Thomas Wade Vess; and one daughter-in-law, Joyce "Dee" Vess; and two sisters, Wanda Vest Meeks and Peggy Lou Vest Tyree.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2014, at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian with Rev. Michael C. Fleenor officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be members of her family and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m.. until service time at the church.
